OIC Convenes Emergency Meeting Following Recent Israeli Measures

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold an emergency meeting of foreign ministers on Thursday, February 26, at its General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Isteqamat Press – the meeting was convened at the request of the Palestinian government. It aims to coordinate the positions of member states and examine practical measures to address recent actions by Israel that are said to alter the legal, political, and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territories and undermine the two-state solution.

In a statement issued today, the OIC General Secretariat said the meeting will focus on the Israeli cabinet’s decision to initiate the process of registering lands in the West Bank as “state property.” Experts have described the move as part of broader annexation plans and the expansion of settlements considered illegal under international law.

The decision, approved last week, would enable the large-scale confiscation of Palestinian land in Area C, which remains under full Israeli control. The move has drawn strong condemnation from the United Nations, the European Union, and more than 85 countries.

The OIC described the measures as a clear violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, stressing the need for urgent action by the international community.
