United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan Emphasizes Ensuring Social Justice for All Afghans
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), marking World Day of Social Justice, stressed that sustainable peace and equitable development in Afghanistan can only be achieved through the provision of decent work without discrimination, equal access to education, and the meaningful participation of women and vulnerable groups.
Isteqamat Press – UNAMA said in a statement published Friday (February 20) on its official Facebook page that every Afghan has the right to work and earn an income with dignity and free from discrimination.
The statement added that families in need must also benefit from targeted humanitarian assistance and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The UN mission warned that no society can attain social justice while half of its population is deprived of secondary education — a situation that primarily affects girls and women.
UNAMA described the meaningful participation of all segments of society, particularly women, in decision-making processes as a fundamental condition for lasting peace and underscored the need to remove structural barriers to realizing these rights.
