Russian Official Warns UK and France of Risk of World War

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, has warned that any potential transfer of nuclear technology or weapons from the United Kingdom and France to Ukraine would directly lead to a world war.

Isteqamat Press – Medvedev stressed that such a move would constitute a clear violation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and would compel Russia to use “any weapon, including non-strategic nuclear arms,” against threatening targets in Ukraine. If necessary, he added, Moscow would also respond against the supplier countries.

The remarks followed claims by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) alleging a covert plan by London and Paris to equip Kyiv with nuclear capabilities, including components for an atomic bomb or a “dirty bomb.”

The statements come as the United Kingdom and France are reportedly leading a “coalition of the willing” aimed at providing post-war security guarantees for Ukraine. The governments in London and Paris have dismissed the allegations as “baseless” and an attempt to divert attention.
