Norwegian Refugee Council Distributes Aid to 50,000 People

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) announced on Tuesday that it has distributed emergency assistance to more than 50,000 survivors of the recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.

According to the organization, the relief packages included tents, heaters, stoves, hygiene supplies, and shelter materials provided to affected families. The NRC stated that with the approach of winter, the need for additional and more sustainable support for these families has significantly increased. The organization urged donor agencies to expand their financial and humanitarian support and to ensure long-term assistance for vulnerable families.

Meanwhile, Islamic Relief Organization reported that with the approach of the harsh and cold winter, the lives of earthquake survivors are at serious risk. The organization added that the United Nations’ Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan for Afghanistan in 2025 has received less than 30 percent of its required funding and still needs an additional 139 million dollars.
