
Moderate Earthquake Strikes Eastern Afghanistan
News sources reported on Wednesday, October 8 (16 Mizan), that a relatively strong earthquake struck the eastern provinces of Afghanistan.
According to reports, the 4.4-magnitude quake shook parts of eastern Afghanistan early this morning. Data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicates that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in Jalalabad, Nangarhar Province, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
So far, no information has been released regarding possible casualties or damages. Meanwhile, Iranian media have also reported an earthquake in some areas of Iran. The Iranian Seismological Center stated that the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran recorded a 3.7-magnitude earthquake in Malayer.
The coordinates of this quake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, were registered at 34.281°N latitude and 48.736°E longitude.
