
Brazilian Al Nassr Player Converts to Islam
Saudi club Al Nassr FC has announced that Kathleen Souza, a 29-year-old Brazilian player and captain of the club’s women’s football team, has converted to Islam in an official ceremony.
Isteqamat Press – citing Saudi media reports, the event was held on February 18 in the presence of club officials and her teammates.
Souza joined Al Nassr in August 2024 from Real Madrid Femenino and has since played a key role in the team’s domestic title successes and its participation in the AFC Women’s Champions League.
In a post shared on social media, Souza published a photo of herself wearing a hijab at Masjid al-Haram, writing: “I was searching for the right path to become the best version of myself.”
In a video circulated online, she tearfully announced her conversion to Islam, saying she had found true peace on this path.
Al Nassr also shared a video of her teammates celebrating the occasion and wished her stability and peace in her new journey.
