UN: Israel’s Actions in the West Bank a Clear Violation of International Law

The United Nations has condemned Israel’s expansionist policies in the West Bank, describing them as a clear violation of international law.

Isteqamat Press – the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric, said in an interview with Al Jazeera that recent decisions by Israel, including land registration measures and the expansion of settlements, have led to the displacement of Palestinians from their lands and contributed to regional instability.

Dujarric strongly criticized remarks made by some members of the Israeli cabinet rejecting the two-state solution, warning that such an approach undermines prospects for a sustainable peace.

He added that UN Secretary-General António Guterres continues to urge member states to intensify efforts to launch a political process aimed at achieving a two-state solution.

“There is no alternative to the two-state solution in resolving the conflict,” Dujarric stressed.

The UN’s statement comes amid rising tensions in the West Bank, fueled by increased settlement activity and Israeli military operations in the territory.
